Lexi Ward is a resident of South Minneapolis where she purchased her first home in Summer 2021. She is a licensed CPA in Illinois where she began her career as a corporate income tax accountant providing consulting, auditing, and technical tax advice to publicly and privately held business entities. As a Black woman in Finance, Lexi has held numerous DEI roles under Corporate Responsibility including serving as the co-Leader of EY’s Chicago LGBTA Professional Network and the first Officer of Avant Inc.’s Foundation subsidiary.
Prior to becoming a CPA, Lexi spent a decade working for non-profit organizations advocating for LBT women in the areas of healthcare access and criminal justice reform. As a Community Organizer for the Southern Center for Human Right’s Alabama programs, she worked with local community members and state legislators to form the Legislative Committee on Women and Girls in the Criminal Justice System. As the Volunteer & Events Coordinator at the Lesbian Community Cancer Project, she coordinated donor special events and an annual fundraising gala held in Chicago’s South Shore Cultural Center known to draw 1,200-1,500 attendees yearly.
Lexi earned a Masters of Accountancy from the University of Georgia and a BA in Economics and Latin American Studies from Vassar College. She served 6 years on the Board of Directors of the Point Foundation, including 2 terms on the Audit Committee to finalize annual financial statements with the CFO and independent auditors. She knows all the lyrics to all the 80s hair band ballads and lite rock favorites.
