After halting demolition of the Roof Depot site in 2023, EPNI entered into a purchase agreement with the City of Minneapolis and the MN State Legislature, to acquire and convert the site into an indoor urban farm and community hub in East Phillips, bringing access to fresh food, good jobs and long overdue justice to the neighborhood.

EPNI plans to close on the Roof Depot site in September. As soon as that happens, and EPNI can finally access the site, we will begin remediation assessments and the construction of outdoor farm infrastructure on the parking lot. We’re calling this Phase 2, supported by $600K in grant funding that we secured this spring.
