EPNI Spotlight: Center for Community Investment

EPNI was recently featured on the Spectrum of Development in the Community Real Estate Ownership Ecosystem!

“What if #CommunityOwnership wasn’t the exception but the rule?

In Minneapolis, the East Phillips Neighborhood Institute (EPNI) is demonstrating what that can look like at the "Individual Project" stage of the “Spectrum of Development in the Community Real Estate Ownership Ecosystem.” In a place heavily impacted by decades of environmental racism, neighbors are working to convert a 230,000 square foot warehouse into a community-owned urban farm and resiliency hub, complete with a rooftop solar array, educational workshops, and affordable space to house small businesses. The structure? A hybrid model of cooperative investment and collective control.

EPNI is redefining what’s possible through a single, community-centered project. One rooted in healing rather than extraction.
